Mar. 6 – DREEM STREET at Floating World

Dreem Street is a street wear label run by Matthew Chambers (Los Angeles) and Eric Mast (Portland), concerned largely with putting drawings on T-shirts. Embracing the idea that the T-shirt is the “lowest for of self-expression,” their approach to creating shirt designs is informed by their own artistic practice and interest in self publishing. Designs are hand drawn directly onto screens and produced in very short runs as a spin on standard screening technique, but also to facilitate the largest number of ideas with given materials. Subject matter is often cagey, humorous, recycling of pop culture motifs, awkward bootleg fan shirts, post-modern digestifs, and rumination on mass media castoffs.

For this show Dreem Street will be setting up a pop-up shop inside of Floating World for the month of March, showing a selection of past and recent shirt designs, as well as printed works on paper and photographic prints by photographer Ben Goddard (Los Angeles).
