LES BELLES is the facsimile of a sketchbook created by Chris in Amsterdam during the winter of 2012. The discursive black-ink brush drawings are a stream of consciousness monologue that traipses around the definition of illustration as a form of commercial dialogue. An experiment in drawing without drawing and of creating spontaneous lyrical forms for their own sake, LES BELLES is a surrealist jaunt into a world of happy accidents, chance encounters and the search for meaning without form.

Chris Taylor is a Canadian born artist, musician and writer with a nomadic studio called WERK AAN ZEE. He has lived in Montreal, New York and Amsterdam doing creative work for advertising agencies. He is currently hiding out in Portland, OR.
