Comics and animation have always performed a close dance and tonight we are featuring 5 crossover cartoonists making unique, experimental, one-person animations.
In addition to making comics and animation, Jam Dyer is a painter, video game designer, and dancer. A Flash innovator in the first days of the internet, they will be sharing with us some of their side projects from 2003-present.
Dylan Jones is a unique Portland cartoonist making stop motion animations with paper cut outs, usually with some whimsical absurd narrative, which we will view tonight.
Yoko OK started messing around with exporting timelapses from Procreate and making music videos out of them as soon as she got an iPad in late 2020. A recent graduate of the IPRC comics cohort, she will be sharing some of her music videos with us tonight.
Lori Damiano is a reknowned cartoonist and animator all along the west coast, creating murals, paintings, and animations. Tonight we will be screening her film, Lord I: The Records Keeper, a 15-minute foray into the technique of Vipassana meditation and the clearing of the mind of mental clutter.
Mannie Murphy is a long-time comics maker who has recently returned to her first love of animation. Her animations take place in the Star Wars universe and combine puppetry, stop-motion, and camera tricks to bring her old toys to life.
