The second annual FLOATING WORLD ANIMATION FEST comes to the Bagdad Theater this Saturday Aug 16, 6:30pm as part of the latest SUPERTRASH FILM FEST. This year’s show features mindblowing animation and sustained psychedelia from: Bruce Bickford, Bruno 9li, Lung, Yoshi Sodeoka, Jen Stark, Wham City, Robert Valley, Tasha Brotherton, Dalek and Jesse Olanday, Mathieu Labaye, and many more!

Special guest Bruce Bickford will be present at the Sunday 3pm screening of his stop motion masterpiece, PROMETHEUS’ GARDEN. Best known for his collaborations with rock iconoclast Frank Zappa in the 1970’s (Dub Room Special, Baby Snakes, The Amazing Mr. Bickford), underground animator Bruce Bickford has influenced generations of artists with his original vision.

Prometheus’ Garden (1988) is the only film over which Bickford maintained complete creative control.

Inspired by the Greek myth of Prometheus, a Titan who created the first mortals from clay and stole fire from the gods, Prometheus’ Garden is a dreamlike stream of an unlikely cast of clay characters in a violent struggle for survival.

SUPERTRASH re-arrives…!

On its way to being a ‘regular thing’, the fest we like to call SUPERTRASH bunks down Friday thru Sun, August 15-17, @BAGDAD THEATER 3702 SE Hawthorne Blvd.

You, the consumer, will receive 4 days and nites of positive mash-up utilizing the best of smash blockbusters, febrile grindhouse, and epic fantasy.

You’ll also get lots of perks: the second annual FLOATING WORLD COMICS ANIMATION FEST, with an appearance by claymation sorcerer Bruce Bickford, and the unpredictable results of our first live BEWDY & BEEST CONTEST.

Oh yeah, there’ll be free matinees on Saturday with gratis coffee and wine
tasting courtesy of McMenamins.
